Have you seen any of Anthony Bourdain’s TV shows? “Parts Unknown” and/or “No Reservations” are the ones I really got into. This is the tag line in case you have no idea what I am talking about….
“Anthony Bourdain travels the globe to uncover little-known areas of the world and celebrate diverse cultures by exploring food and dining rituals.”
Traveling the globe to uncover areas that people have traditionally overlooked. The little hole-in-the-wall cafes and restaurants that are the heart and center of a town, or a culture. He would travel to these far-flung locations and really immerse himself in the people, usually finding a local family to cook and experience a meal with. The experience of cooking together, the sharing of stories, that human connection, that is what I loved about it, and what fuels my wanderlust. I believe that there is good in all parts of this world that is often overlooked. I am open to seeing and experiencing it all. I can’t say that there is one place that I would not specifically travel, because I feel that we all can gain knowledge and compassion from all corners and from all humans.
Do you have a favorite episode of Parts Unknown? Mine was the one in Copenhagen. So many beautiful moments in that episode.
