My job would not exist if it weren’t for technology. Thinking back, I have been employed in some flavor of IT work for most of my life. I have worked as a desktop tech, help desk guy, digital media installer/project manager, software developer, ski resort IT guy, technical project manager, etc. Technology has helped to organize my day and my thoughts, and continues to amaze me with the leaps and bounds as it progresses. I have a cautious outlook on AI and the way that the current technology race is headed. I have used ChatGPT to have some amazing conversations, brainstorming ideas, and help to try and get my campground idea off the ground. I am amazed, but a little fearful of its capabilities.
Sitting behind a screen can be fun, but there’s still a big part of me that wants and needs to be outside building things. Creating art and sharing the outdoors with others. Growing and cooking our own food, working in gardens until the sun goes down. Looking back on a hard day’s work and feeling accomplished. These are things that I have not found behind a computer screen.
