Good morning and happy Monday to ya’ll out there in virtual land. I have been thinking about this prompt for a few minutes now and I have a handful of books that I have read more than others. One of the first ones that came to my mind was my book of birds. I have a field guide book of birds that I keep next to my window, right next to my binoculars. I used to look through this book when spotting a new bird and got excited flipping through and looking at the different types of birds, their unique coloring, and all of the fun information about them. Nowadays, I use an app to help me identify and track the birds that I see out in the wild. I have mixed feelings about that, but it is a fun app to use. I have a few books of wildflowers that I used quite a bit when I lived in Colorado, but I have yet to get a Minnesota wildflower book. I have also read the AA Big Book quite a bit in the past years, and often read the daily writings from my Touchstones app. I also have a few books of Dad Jokes that I have re-read many, many times.
This weekend was a great one, filled with beautiful scenery, fresh fish cooked on the Blackstone, agate hunting, camping and campfires, and a beautiful drive along the north shore. Driving through Pine County and dreaming about campgrounds got me thinking about what the next steps are for this dream of mine. I had a clear goal leading up to the Pride booth, and now that it has passed, I am kind of wondering what the next steps are going to be. I was hoping to connect with folks who were as excited about this dream as I am, and who were willing to take a leap with us into acquiring land and building a beautiful place. I had visions all across the spectrum of what a “successful” Pride event was going to be, and I think that I achieved that. Now I am going to continue to reach out to folks, keep writing in this blog, and to keep dreaming. This is a place that I believe needs to be built. This is a safe space that needs to exist. Channeling frustrations and unknowns into positive actions!
