I was sitting at a stoplight yesterday, waiting for it to change, and I found myself staring at a restaurant that has a beautifully vine-covered outside patio. I was looking at the vines climbing up the trellis, and what struck me was that these vines were yellowing. They were dying. These vines were going through a natural process. This got my mind thinking about all of the things in our lives that go through the natural process of dying. Whether it be friends or family members, relationships, pets, and so forth…it all comes to an end. How do we pick up the pieces and move on after the death of a loved one? How do we continue on when something so precious is torn away from us quicker than we would have liked? Yesterday was a heavy day, and I wished I could have picked up the phone and called my Grandfather. He would have been sitting in his back sewing area with my Grandmother, listening to jazz on the radio, possibly drinking a High Life. I would have been able to pour out my heart and my feelings and rely on his good nature and good wisdom to calm my nerves and anxiety. I do have special people that I can vent and release to, sometimes over walks or frisbee golf, or omelettes. Treasure these folks in your life. I wish my little bro were closer so that I could spend more physical time with him. I turned him onto this album pictured below, and listening to it this morning, a few quotes stood out to me that I wanted to share..

Our time is short.

Do not let your heart go to shit enslaved by ephemera.

Say Yes to Love. Say Yes to Life.
